The Phoenix Velo Training Group is pleased to announce a brand new bike race for the hills of Mission on May 15th. In cooperation with the District of Mission, race director Geoff Oram has crafted a tight, challenging course on a 5.5 kilometre circuit featuring 500 feet of climbing, with grades up to 14%.

"The idea was to present riders with an event where there would be no hiding, the winner will be the strongest rider on the day" stated Oram. "Riders will know that they were in race!"

"The concept of our club hosting four races this season was to raise the profile of cycling in the region and give our club members more opportunities to race close to home," shared Bruce Wenting, Club President.

"We wanted to build on the success of our annual Thunderbird Masters' event where we can produce a fun, relaxed event for riders and families attending."

With the finish line at the top of the "Wailing Wall" climb, fans and families will be able to cheer their favourite local riders over the top.

The District has generously allowed a full road closure on the thrilling Tyler road descent where riders will be approaching 70 km/h. For all of the details, follow the link at missionsportspark.wordpress.com to directions, maps and registration information.

The event is presented by Mr. Mikes Steakhouse and Grill in Mission. They will be on hand with free food for all participants and volunteers.
