SuperCup Final - San Francisco, California

Alison Dunlap made it two-for-two this weekend, taking today's SuperCup 'Cross series final ahead of Anne Grande (who won the overall series). Shari Kain was third and Canadian champion Chrissy Redden fourth. Ruthie Matthes rounded out the top five.

Our reporter Chris Redden said that the course was very similar to yesterday's U.S. national championship race - fast and not very technical. Dunlap led from the start, with Grande, Kain and Redden chasing. Kain had mechanical problems early in the race, but caught back up to the other two. Then Redden suffered the same problem later, and could not catch up.

In the men's race, Bart Bowen made up for his loss yesterday by winning and taking the series title from national champion Marc Gullickson. Marck McCormack took second in the race, followed by Tim Johnson, Gullickson and Frank McCormack. The five leaders rode together for most of the race, until Espoir champion Johnson broke it up with an attack at the two laps to go mark. Bowen broke clear for the win and, because Gullickson finished more than one place behind, took the series' title as well.
