HP Challenge 2000

BOISE, Idaho (15 December 1999) -- The HP LaserJet Women's Challenge, the toughest and richest road race in North America, is ready for the Olympics. Race organizers have designed a 2000 course to once again attract the world's best female athletes. The race offers the cyclists the opportunity to test themselves against Idaho's rugged terrain and size up the competition in preparation for the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.

"We attempted to set a course that would emulate the race courses for Sydney," said Race Director and retired Marine, Jim Rabdau. "It's as close as we could get in the high desert and mountains of Idaho."

Race Face Recognized by National Post Newspaper

Vancouver, B.C.- Race Face Components Inc., one of North America's leading producers of high performance mountain bike components and clothing, is proud to announce that the company has been selected as "One of Canada's 50 Best Privately Managed Companies for 1999" by the nationally distributed National Post newspaper.

"We're very honored to have won this prestigious award," said Craig Pollack, President of Race Face. "We competed with private companies in Canada of all sizes and from varied industries. The judges at the National Post, CIBC, and Arthur Andersen thought that the innovative management practices we employ here at Race Face were worthy of the award. This is a great win and recognition for our entire team. In fact, the best part of the award is that it is not focussed on one individual- rather, it's meant to recognize the accomplishments of all the members of our company, and everyone can be proud of this achievement."

"Our commitment to having a participative management environment has been critical to our success," adds Pollack. "For example, our staff are given a high degree of authority and responsibility in making both micro and macro decisions in the company, and we share all of our financial information with every staff member. We have also worked hard at Race Face to deliver superior products and services to our customers. Our track record in terms of developing innovative products and marketing them in an impactful manner is excellent. We have also focussed on getting our business fundamentals right- delivering products on time, for example. The combination of these initiatives and others have enabled us to be a pretty dynamic company with a track record of growth," said Pollack.

The "50 Best" awards are open to all privately managed companies in Canada that are majority Canadian owned, have greater than $5 million in revenues, employ a staff of at least twenty five, and show steady sales and growth. The award is meant to recognize companies that employ innovative team management practices that deliver superior business results.

Race Face Bicycle Components Inc. is a manufacturer of high-end performance mountain bike components and clothing. Sixty-five full-time employees currently produce cranks, bottom brackets, chain-rings, seatposts, handlebars, headsets, stems, and a life-style cycling clothing line for sale in thirty countries worldwide.
