Blizzard Bike Club, Fort St John, BC

Wednesday August 23rd

Stephen Ferris lowered the Cactus Trails record lap time, again, Wednesday night. He brought it down to 27:57 minutes for the win. Richard Howes was second at 32:32 and Pat Ferris third at 33:23. Andrew Kovacs was fourth at 33:40 and Kevin Shaw fifth at 36:08.

Conditions were dry and fast on the expanded Cactus Trails circuit.

Tammy Howes was sixth at 37:03, Roger St. Jean 40:31, Adam Currie 43:12, Chris Herriot 44:44, Derit Kohnert 48:56 and Kelsey Young 1:06:51 for his first time on the long loop. One rider had mechanical issues and could not finish.

Coming up:

Three Blizzards are still toiling at the 1200 km Paris-Brest-Paris Randonneur in France.

Thursday is the final Baldonnel time trial at 7 pm.

Sunday (August 28th) is a Challenge Cup road race in Grande Prairie at 11 am.

Seven local triathletes head to Penticton, Sunday, for the Ironman.


Sunday August 21st

Stephen Ferris won the Cactus mountain bike race, Sunday, with a record time of 29:14 minutes for the 7.5 km expanded loop. Pat Ferris was second at 34:25 and Gary Hilderman third at 34:49. Adam Currie was 4th at 44:24, Gord Harris 5th at 46:30 and Davide Loro 6th at 49:12. Ken Lane had a bike malfunction and could not finish.
