The Forest City Velodrome is pleased to announce the continuation of the very successful Youth Cycling Program for the summer of 2012. During the months of April and May, boys and girls between the ages of 9 and 17 years are invited to try out the Forest City Velodrome Youth Cycling Program.

Every Saturday afternoon in April at 3pm - 4pm. The FCV will provide an introduction to the Youth Cycling Program and provide the bicycles. As the riders bike handling skills improve they will graduate into the structured Youth Training session.

The Forest City Velodrome will also be running regular Saturday road rides specifically designed for young cyclists beginning on April 14th. These youth rides will teach the rules of the road and improve the safety of riders who attend. There is no cost to get involved and riders may use any bicycle from home for these road rides. Rhys Bateman, FCV Youth spokesman, indicated.... "that the rides would begin at 10 am from the Velodrome in South London and be geared for the average youth rider. As the fitness of the riders improve the rides will get longer. There is an opportunity for racing at different races in Southern Ontario. One of the goals of the youth program is to see an athlete from Ontario compete at the Olympic Games in cycling."

The very successful Youth Program at the Forest City Velodrome is in its fifth year and is centred at the Velodrome.

The FCV offers professional coaching and extensive training time at the Velodrome. Bicycles are supplied. Sessions run on Saturday afternoons and Wednesday evenings during the summer and winter.

Young athletes interested in getting involved in the Youth cycling program are encouraged to send an e-mail to ForestCityVelodrome@live.com for registration.

The introductory program is FREE and is open to any boy or girl between the ages of 9 & 17 years old.
