December 2/12 17:27 pm - Group to Fight Proposed Ontario Mandatory Helmet Law Posted by Editoress on 12/2/12
The Ontario Coalition for Better Cycling (OCBC) has reformed to fight the Province of Ontario's proposed mandatory helmet law for adults. On November 30th, the Minister of Transportation released a draft cycling strategy (PDF download) for public discussion which included a proposal to mandate bicycle helmets for adults. The Province already has a helmet law for children.
The OCBC is a Provincial-level group of cyclists opposed to mandated helmet use. It was originally formed in 1992 to fight Ontario's first bicycle helmet law. OCBC promotes cycling as a healthy and environmentally friendly form of transportation and recreation.
