December 17/12 9:09 am - U.S. Olympian Visits Forest City Velodrome

Posted by Editoress on 12/17/12

The infield was packed, Saturday afternoon and evening as USA Olympian Bobby Lea dropped by the FCV (Forest City Velodrome) to talk to the Youth riders training at the Velodrome in London, Ontario.

Canadian bicycle manufacturer Cervelo set up the meeting.  The kids were treated to an instructional session with the Olympian and an autograph session on the infield.  The kids asked many questions about cycling and track racing. The 30 minute meet and greet turned into a 90 minute talk about the experiences Bobby had in training, leading up to the Olympics, as well as the experience of competing in the 2012 London Olympics.  Some of the youngest riders (9 and 10 years old) had some very interesting questions from "How much tire pressure do you use" to "Did you get excited at the start line."

Later in the evening, during the racing program, a presentation was made to the Forecst City Velodrome from the 3 Port Tour (Hueston Family) and Cervelo.  The funds raised for the Velodrome totalled over $2,700 in 2012.

The Forest City Velodrome thanks all the riders who took part in the fund raising during the 2012 summer riding season.

A special thank you to Bobby Lea and Cervelo for making this very exciting event happen for the young track riders in Ontario.
