Podium Imports has been appointed Canadian distributor for Swiss-based Suplest cycling shoes. The first delivery of 2013 product is expected to be ready for shipment to dealers in mid-February.

“Suplest fits in very well with our current brands and dealer cross-section,” according to Podium owner Brian McCoy. The focus will be on the high-end road and triathlon models, but Podium will also support some of Suplest’s off-road product in the Canadian market.

Suplest shoes feature a unique seamless Micro-Grid upper that is lighter and more comfortable than the traditional sewn upper. “We got a few pairs last summer for evaluation and the response from our testers was overwhelmingly positive. With prices in the range of $250 to $350 retail, Suplest offers great value for this level of quality”, according to McCoy.

Suplest has been manufacturing cycling shoes for four years, with sales limited to Europe until now. 2013 will mark the first year of their extension to other markets, with availability in both the USA and Canada. The company’s founders combined experience in the cycling industry with their family’s multi-generation shoe manufacturing history to bring innovative design concepts like Ergo 360 and the Organic Grid to enthusiast cyclists.
