December 30/12 22:19 pm - Superior Glass 4 Day: Day 3 report and photos

Posted by Editoress on 12/30/12

Tyler Farrar was mad at himself for missing the winning move on Night Two in the feature race of the Superior Glass 4 Day presented by Wolfe Auto Group, at the Burnaby Veldrome in Burnaby BC. On Night Three he made no mistakes, by taking all three races in convincing fashion, moving from third overall into the lead heading into Sunday’s finale.

Farrar was ever present at the front, winning sprints and taking a lap with Emile de Rosnay in the 100 lap feature to secure the win. Local boy Dylan Davies took a lap solo to secure the final podium spot in the feature. Farrar now leads with 84 points to Kyle Buckosky’s 75 and former leader Martin Vecchio’s 66. It is still wide open and looks to continue to be a seesaw battle.

In the women’s Madison, Steph Roorda and Gillian Carleton again won all the sprints in the three sprint, 60 lap race.  Both the Baby Blue team of Erin Glover and Claire Cameron, and Team Purple of Jenny Lehmann and new partner Laura Brown were able to stay on the same lap this time. Going into the final night Roorda and Carleton have a stranglehold on the event.

In B and C action it is still a titanic struggle between James Hilyer from LA who is leading John Wood, and Stephen Butchart leading over Spencer Mulder, respectively. In the Youth women final night, Maggie Coles-Lyster took both races to win the Youth Women Omnium over Gillian Ellsay, with Robynne Shannon in third.

Tomorrow's (Sunday, December 30th) final day will feature a pursuit challenge, with Tyler Farrar facing off against the Canadian Women’s Team Pursuit team in the 3000 metre challenge. Come out and watch this multi-time Grand Tour stage winner do battle over one of the strongest women’s Team Pursuit programs in the world.
