Canadian cycling legend Alison Sydor will host cycling camps in the Okanagan region in central B.C. this spring, offering riders a chance to ride with and learn from some of the best riders in the world.

Alison describes the impetus for the camps:

In 2008 I joined a few of my former National Team teammates for their annual spring cycling trip to the Okanagan. It was my first casual cycling trip to the area. And even after all the years of great riding I’ve done around the world, I was super impressed with all the fantastic roads for cycling in the area. From rolling past vineyards to climbing mountain passes the area pretty much has it all to keep an avid cyclist well entertained.

Two years later in 2010 we all gathered again to host a Women’s’ cycling camp in the Penticton area which we had put together as a donation for a charity auction. We had a lot of fun doing this camp and so the following year I organized another Women’s only camp in the nearby Osoyoos, and we followed that up in 2012 going back to the Penticton area for another successful Women’s only camp.

This year I am pleased to offer two camps in early May. One a Women’s only camp hosted by myself and a number of former National/Olympic Team teammates of mine, and the other a mixed camp hosted by myself and Dave Vukets (BSc Nutrition/team manager TrekRedTruckRacing.com team).

These two camps are best suited to riders looking to prepare for a granfondo, a charity ride, or just enjoy a fully supported environment to kick start their cycling fitness for the upcoming season. We can promise all riders will get in some enjoyable early season kms, have lots of help to work on things like their group riding skills, and learn lots off the bike too in relevant subjects such as diet and sports nutrition.

Past camps have proven to be a special experience for both the riders and the coaches and we are looking forward on continuing this tradition in 2013.

One can register or find more information about both of these camps at: www.alisonsydor.com . Those who register by February 17th will receive a discount on their accommodation.
