Former SpiderTech rider Keven Lacombe, who retired at the end of last season, will stay with cycling by taking on the role of team director with the Quebec-based Junior squad Équipe Junior IAMGOLD.

Keven confirmed with us via e-mail today:

Q:  You retired last season, so what have you been doing since then?

A:  Since the retirement, I finished my accounting program and I will finish the exams at beginning of December. I will start working for Deloitte in January. It's very exciting for me to start a new career.

Q:  What exactly is your position with the Iamgold team?

A:  I will be Team Director.

Q:  When did you start and why did you decide to do this?

A:  I'm from Abitibi [where the team is based] and it's time for me to give back. People from Abitibi helped me for all those years, now it's my turn.

Q:  Tell me something about the team - who is it for, goals, riders, what races will it do?

A:  This is Junior team for Men and Women. The goal is to give them the opportunity to have good structure and to do the biggest races in North America.  We gonna focus on selection races for Équipe Québec, Canadian championships and obviously the Tour de l'Abitibi for men, Tour Rimouski for women.

For myself, my goal is to teach them how to prepare for a bicycle race and how to race it to succeed.
