Mont Ste Anne World Cup - Pre-Women's Race Report

It is wet and muddy on the Mont Ste Anne cross-country circuit, after heavy rain last night. The sun keeps peeking through the clouds, but there is still some rain worries. Juniors finishing said that they were crashing a lot on the slippery roots in the technical sections. Based on the feedback from the Junior race, and the threat of rain, the organizers have removed one technical section - a difficult singletrack descent after the main climb (part of the climb has been removed also). This may affect chances for technically proficient riders such as Alison Sydor. However, Chrissy Redden said last night that everyone is concerned about broken collarbones this close to the Olympics, and that organizers and the UCI are erring on the side of caution. The women will be doing 5 laps, the men 7.
