The 2014 Canadian Mountain Bike Marathon Championships will take to the trails of Squamish (BC) tomorrow, August 16th, with some of the best cross-country mountain bikers battling it out for long-distance supremacy.

The Championships course will feature the same trails as the regular JABR presented by Pearson Financial Services LTD, but with a couple of extensions added on to total over 60 kilometres of racing.

The 2014 Canadian Cross-Country Champion Geoff Kabush (Scott 3Rox Racing) will attempt to add a Marathon title to his long list of titles, won in both cross-country and cyclo-cross.

The men's title was won in 2013 by Cory Wallace (Kona Factory). Wallace finished as the top Canadian in 20th place of the UCI XCM World Championships earlier in June. Wallace will be present to defend his title.

Other elite cross-country riders are expected to provide stiff competition, such as Evan McNeely (Norco Factory), Evan Guthrie (Norco Factory) and Andrew L'Esperance (Norco Factory).

In the women's race, Sandra Walter (LIV Giant) and Cindy Montambault (CVM 2 Vals) are headlining the women's field registered for the race. The reigning champion, Kaarin Tae of Nova Scotia, will not be defending her title as she rehabilitating from an ankle injury.
