RESULTS A GROUP

Race Format - DEVIL TAKES THE HIND MOST

The Devil kept the excitement level high and the pace fast and furious. This race format brought the riders back to a near equal level of strategy which benefited some while punished others. The greatest lesson was likely learned by Dan Ward who was pinched out the back with nowhere to charge. The finish was spectacular with the top three having energy to spare and no more than a wheel length between first and third.

1 Jessie Collins - Bicisport
2 Tom Ameriadis - MTN Bike City
3 Brian Mclennan - Bow Cycle / CMC
4 Martin Machacek - Eurotech
5 Jeff Smith - Bow cycle / CMC

RESULTS B GROUP

Race Format - DEVIL TAKES THE HIND MOST

The race format and the number of racers made this race a pleasure to watch for the spectators as every lap was like a finish. Racers enjoyed having the opportunity to sprint or to chase to save his or her hind and a few had to do so repeatedly. The Devil had some easy catches with riders running out of juice teaching the B Group to be well nourished. The lead group was larger than normal cutting short the leisurely ride and resulted in an average speed of 40.5 kph - higher than usual.

1 Wade Wallace - Pedalhead
2 Jere Hu - ERTC
3 Mike Lawford - Pedalhead
4 Tim VanGilder - G.S. Blauwkomp

Sign Them Up!

We saw a newspaper report that Texas Border Patrol agents are having a problem catching illegal immigrants from Mexico. The reason? They are dressing up like cyclists and sprinting across the border on bikes. Smugglers provide the bikes and the gear (for $1500 US), then pick up the 'racers' in a vehicle after they have crossed the border. Maybe there's a job in it for retired bike racers - chasing down illegal immigrants for the Border Patrol...
