January 31/15 11:56 am - Mallorca Challenge: Trofeo Serra de Tramuntana results

Alejandro Valverde (Movistar Team) took the victory on the third round of the XXIV Playa de Palma-Vuelta a Mallorca, the Trofeo Serra de Tramuntana, after 165 kilometers, between the towns of Valldemossa and Deia.

The rofeo Serra de Tramuntana, third round of the 2015 Challenge de Mallorca, is a roller coaster in the first kilometres. The speed of the leaders decimated the field that had started with 173 riders.

Alejandro Valverde and Kudus Merhawi (MTN-Qhubeka) attacked 40 kilometres from the finish. Spanish veteran Valverde launched a fierce attack just a few kilometers later and no one was able to stay on his wheel.  He soloed his way up and down the final couple of climbs including the uphill finish to take to a stunning solo win.

A brutal day of racing, with nearly 2/3 of the field retiring.

Dom Rollin did not start this day.
