Sweet Pete's views the hiring of new staff as some the most important decisions we make and we like to do it a bit differently than most. Of course, bike experience is useful (and passion for cycling is a must), however, we look first and foremost for personality. When you're in the market for a new bike, you've got a ton of options. Being able to speak to someone who can truly find out your needs, relate to your concerns and find solutions is what separates Sweet Pete's from the rest. Our staff are friendly, honest, enthusiastic people who are completely empowered to ensure that every customer is satisfied with their experience every time.

Retail Manager at Sweet Pete's Brickworks, 550 Bayview Ave.

Sweet Pete's Brick Works is a seasonal location in the Evergreen Brick Works at 550 Bayview Ave. It is a cycling hub of activity, with a retail component, a large rental fleet and a repair shop. This is a seasonal contract that will start in March and run until late October / early November, depending on the weather.

As a Store Manager at Sweet Pete's Brickworks you will be a strong ambassador for the Sweet Pete's brand of customer service and product selection to visitors of the Evergreen Brick Works. You will be in charge of managing sales of bikes and accessories, merchandising, inventory, rentals, and other sales staff as well as working with mechanics to manage flow of repairs.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations at Sweet Pete's Brickworks
• Make sure the store is merchandised to standards set by the GM
• Maintain a clean and organized retail environment
• Be responsible for inventory transfers from other stores. Re-order and receive new product while managing inventory levels
• Be up to date on cycling trends and product knowledge
• Provide great customer service, generate interest inviting people into the store and growing sales
• Provide assistance to customer looking rent bikes. Get them sized-up on a bike and offer directions and advice on where to ride
• Works together with mechanics to sell and grow repairs business. Makes sure other sales staff are up to speed and on task
• Works together with Evergreen Brick Works staff to organize and participate with Evergreen programs

Requirements

• Previous retail experience and some knowledge of bicycle commuting, mountain biking and road biking an asset
• Knowledge and skill of bicycle mechanics an asset
• Strong communication skills, able to start a conversation and talk with anybody.
• Comfortable talking with kids and parents
• Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
• Has a valid driver's license, able to drive a pick-up truck
• Comfortable working outside
• Ability to work a flexible schedule and on weekends

Order / Receiver / Inventory Manager at 1204 Bloor St West.

To be able to offer the best possible customer service on the sales floor and in the repair shop we need to have the right products in our store. Sweet Pete's has grown to the point that re-orders, receiving and managing inventory levels has become a full time job.

It will be your job to monitor inventory levels, place and receive orders as well as work closely with our sales staff and mechanics to track and process special order products.

Responsibilities

• Establish a weekly order schedule with our suppliers
• Daily inventory checks, regular orders to maintain stocking levels
• Unpack merchandise, verify the quality and quantity of items against supporting documents. Accept or return merchandise according to established procedures. Follow pricing guidelines set by the store manager, affixes bar codes, prices, and security tags as necessary
• Fulfill special orders and co-ordinate with sales staff, mechanics and customers
• Update vendor product codes and maintain the inventory database
• Maintain storage area/warehouse, organize and store stock on shelves in an easy to find organized way
• Participate in cycle counts and physical inventory counts
• Provide assistance to the sales staff in moving of display units, restocking of merchandise, product display and organization
• Large orders and tasks will be supported by additional staff

Requirements

• Bicycle industry experience is an asset but not necessary
• Previous retail inventory control or warehouse experience is an asset but not necessary
• Physically capable of lifting and moving heavy containers (up to 50lbs)
• Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
• Computer and spread sheet literacy is an asset
