Guillaume Boivin began his 2016 season in Italy today with his new isreali based team Cycling Academy.

Below are his comments about his race.

Today was my first race of the season with my new team Cycling Academy. A course of 190.6 km at the GP Costa degli Etruschi in Donoratico Italy.

My teammate Guy Gabay exhausted his last reserves of energy to help me climb the two (2) final climbs of the race.

We were the final 20 riders in front, just 8km from the finish. I felt great even though I suffered on the climbs to hold on with the leading group.

The victory was accessible. I prepared myself mentally for the final sprint, but unfortunately, I had a puncture on my front tire. The car team was far behind and took some time before getting up and repairing it. I gave everything to get back on the lead group but it was in vain. I finished 54 seconds behind Grega Bole (Nippo-Vini Fantini) who took the win.

In the first race of the season, it was an opportunity to measure my preparation. I'm pretty satisfied ... We have good races ahead. We are really motivated and enthusiastic.
