"Our extremely supportive community has come through once again. With their awesome support we are now sold out," said Kenneth MacAlpine, Chair of the Bluewater International Granfondo. "What started as a vision for Sarnia-Lambton has now become a reality and we are ecstatic about it."

Cyclists will be travelling to Sarnia-Lambton from British Columbia, Quebec, Georgia, New Jersey, and destinations throughout Ontario and Michigan. Over half of the participants are from Lambton County, a strong indication of the growing cycling culture in the community.

The Bluewater International Granfondo will feature a start and finish along the shores of Lake Huron in Sarnia's beautiful Mike Weir Park. The event offers three cycling routes; The Sarnia 50 K, The Lambton 100 K and the Bluewater 150 K. Proceeds from the event will support St. Joseph's Hospice and Palliative Care at Bluewater Health.

Approximately 100 volunteers will be on hand to provide much needed support for set-up, parking, food stations, participant check-in, route guidance and so much more. "This is also a great opportunity for local students seeking community hours", said Dick Felton, Volunteer Co-ordinator for the Granfondo. Anyone interested in volunteering are asked to contact Dick at rcfdickfelton@gmail.com.

Local residents are invited to join Granfondo participants for an Apres-Ride Party in Mike Weir Park from Noon to 4:00 pm, featuring live entertainment by local band Off-Site Impact. The Petrolia Lions Club will be serving food and The Festival of Good Things will be serving Refined Fool beer.
