Solano Bicycle Classic, California

David Cathcart from the Intersports team was happy to call us up and let us know that his team is now 2 for 2 at the Solano Bicycle Classic in California. Cathy Marsal took the second stage road race in a final 500 meter attack on the lead breakaway, which also included overall race leader Anne Samplonius of Intersports.

A group of 4 went away approximately a third of the way through the 117 kilometre second stage - Marsal, Ina Teutenberg and Petra Rossner (both Saturn) and Marjon Marik (Autotrader.com). They were joined by Julie Young (Autotrader.com), Kim Bruckner (Saturn) and overall leader Samplonius, and then by another group of 5 in the final 25 kilometres.

Marsal attacked with 1 kilometre to go, was brought back and attacked again in the final 500 metrers, holding on for the win. Samplonius continues to hold the yellow jersey.
