Women's World Cup #4 - Fleche Wallonne, Belgium

We finally have a result for the Canadians in this race yesterday. Cybil Diguistini (C.A. Mantes la Ville 78) finished 25th - 59 seconds behind winner Fabiana Luperini (Edilsavino), in the first chase group. Another Canadian (about whom we know very little) finished 75th - Erinne Willock, at 6:48.

Junior Downhill and Cross-Country Clinics:

Junior DH and XC clinics will be run at four of the 2001 BC Cup sites. Participants will meet on the Friday night prior to the race weekend to discuss strategy, tactics, training, nutrition, responsible riding and general maintenance.

Participants in the downhill clinic will then be treated to technical skills training and coached practice runs on the downhill course on Saturday in preparation for the race on Sunday. Participants in the cross-country clinic will race on Saturday and benefit from technical skills training and race course review on Sunday.

The coaches for the program are second to none: Chris Colbeck, Sylvie Allen, Daamiann Skelton, Elladee Brown, Chad Miles and Dave Burch.

Women's Skills Camps

Three Women's Skill Camps will be held this year in three different towns: Kelowna, Victoria, and Rossland. Each will run for two full days, Saturday and Sunday.

Expect to learn all the cycling essentials, from proper braking and shifting techniques, to front wheel lifts and clearing obstacles, cleanly. Expect also to get first rate information on bike maintenance, resource stewardship, and general trail preparedness ... and of course to have great amounts of fun. Anyone from a rider with a minimum of off-road experience to a seasoned veteran is welcome to attend.

Elladee Brown, Daamiann Skelton, Penny Deck, Candace Shadley, Cindy Devine, and Linda Robichaud are set to instruct the camps.

The cost per camp, including lunch both days, is just $80. Participation is limited to 30 per camp, so if you are interested, please register soon. Contact Cycling BC: 604-737-3034 or office@cycling.bc.ca.
