Master Road Worlds

Late news, but we thought that you should know that 2 Canadians medalled at the Masters Road World Championships in 1997 - Evariste Lavoie took the Bronze in the 40 kilometre Mens 70-74 (!) age category, and B.C.‚s Barb Zimich is the World Champion in the 41-45 category (also 40 kilometres). The races were held in St Johann, Austria.

Tentative `99 World Cup Schedule

The UCI has released a tentative 1999 Mountain Bike World Cup schedule. While it is be no means finalized, this is how it currently looks:

Grundig/UCI Mountain Bike World Cup- 1999

Date Event Country Venue

27-28.3 XC#1 USA Napa Valley, CA
10-11.4 XC#2 AUS Sydney
17-18.4 DH#1 SLO Maribor
24-25.4 XC#3 ESP Madrid
8-9.5 XC#4 GER St Wendal
15-16.5 XC#5 GBR Plymouth
22-23.5 DH#2 ITA Nevegal
29-30.5 DH#3 FRA Les Gets
19-20.6 DH#4 USA Squaw Valley
26-27.6 DH#5 USA Snoqualmie Pass, Seattle
3-4.7 XC#6 CAN Canmore, Alberta
10-11.7 XC#7 USA Conyers, GA
31.7-1.8 DH#6 CAN Mont Ste Anne
7-8.8 DH#7 CAN Bromont
14-15.8 DH#8- Finals AUT Kaprun
4-5.9 XC#8- Finals BEL Houffalize

Canada will have 3 World Cups under this plan, 1 Cross Country (Canmore) and 2 Downhill (Mont Ste Anne and Bromont). While we are pleased that so many are scheduled here, it is still very disappointing to see that once again the west coast has been left out. Whistler is probably one of the finest locations in the world for a downhill, but it continues to be passed over.

Classifieds

Lots of new ones up. We were starting to get a bit of a backlog, since we stopped putting them up for a few days while changing over the site to the new format. However, we are now back up to speed (somewhere between a stagger and a stumble at times, it seems!), so keep sending them in.

Links

If you have a link up with us in our Links page, then please check that it works properly. We have tried to transfer over all the links properly, but we might have missed the odd one, so be sure to let us know.

Touring Directory

Attention Tour Operators: We are starting to put together a Directory of Tour Operators and Providers for the Touring section. If you would like to be included in this Directory (including links to your website if you have one), please Contact Us.
