Green Makes It Two for Two

Roland Green has won the men's Bastion Square criterium after a crash marred the finish. Svein Tuft, Cam Evans and Matt Decore started the break 25 laps into the 75 lap race, and were joined shortly after by Green and Sam Whittingham. The 5 lapped the pack with about a third of the race left. It was decided to have the peloton sprint for 6th with 3 laps to go, leaving the road open to the leading 5. Unfortunately, a crash in the pack sprint wrecked the chances of Tuft and Evans.

"Some guy crash out me and Cam in the last corner. It really bummed me out because I was feeling like I could do something, but that stuff happens in bike racing.", said Tuft, who ended up taking 4th ahead of Evans.

"I heard it happen right behind me" said Green. "I looked back and saw that only Sam and I were clear. That isn't the way I would have wanted it, but it sure made it easier. I didn't want to leave it to a sprint, so I attacked on the uphill with one to go."

Alison Sydor and Roland Green each won a Lazy Boy recliner as the overall points leaders in the women's and men's categories. "This is the second Lazy Boy I've won" said Roland. "I'll definitely use it at my place."
