HP Women's Challenge

Stage 7 - HP Road Race from Burley to Pomerelle 57.7 miles/92.3 km
Today's 57.7 mile road course traveled from Burley to Pomerelle along the Oregon and California Trails West to the City of Rocks. The race finished with a 12 mile climb up to the base of the Pomerelle Ski Resort which sits close to 8,000 feet elevation. The route along the Oregon and California Trails was mostly flat and encompassed with strong head and cross winds. The field remained as one until the 45 mile mark, when the climbers took to the front and set the pace. Jeannie Longo (Office Depot) was the first rider in line to attack the climb and only 5 riders were strong enough to hold her wheel; Trixi Woorack (German National), Lyne Bessette (Saturn), Alison Dunlap (Boise Cascade), and Judith Arndt (German National). The 5 stayed together all the way to the top where Woorack out sprinted Bessette for the win. Longo finished 3rd.
