Fair weather attracted 25 riders to the second week of Phoenix Velo's training series held at the Mission Raceway Park along side the Fraser River. In addition, two troops of the local Brownies attended in order to earn their bicycle proficiency badges.

While the Brownies practiced basic riding skills, turn signals and such the training group carried out an extended warm-up and group ride. Twenty riders rolling through the pace line and snaking through the chicanes made for an exciting scene.

At 7:15 it was race time. Three groups were formed for an 8 lap handicap race on the 1300 meter circuit and the race was on.

Just as the last group rolled out, rain showers arrived causing one minor fall as well as a few abandons. The rain created the decisive move as Marsh Cooper attacked as several riders were pulling on rain coats.

His small group rolled through the handicap groups to win easily.

1. Marsh Cooper (Escape Velocity)
2. Jeff Lauchran (Harbour Air)
