The entries for the first Canada Cup Mountain Bike race are coming in fast. The early entry deadline (with discount) is May 15th. To date we have riders from 6 different provinces. The goal is to have riders from all provinces and territories. Don't wait, this will be a good event. This course will also be used for the 2005 Canada Summer Games.

Rob Hewitt - Film Star & Motocross Racer

Sean Jenkins at Giant Canada sent us a few snippits of info on what national team downhiller Rob Hewitt has been up to in the pre-season:

Motocross? It is not mountain biking, but it is great off season training. Giant Canada team rider Rob Hewitt just completed his first ever 250 Pro Class race two weeks ago. Rob battled for 3rd and 4th in both moto's but faded near the race end and settled for 6th in both races aboard his Kawasaki KX 250.

Video Filming: Rob Hewitt travelled to Vancouver last week to do some filming with Jorli Ricker for the Ride To The Hills (Part 2) mountain bike video. However, with the typical April showers they had to call a rain delay. The fortunate thing is that the filming process with Rob will be an ongoing thing through out the year so there will be many more filming attempts.

Women Warriors

(Montreal, Quebec) - Award-winning production house Diversus Inc. is proud to announce the debut of their latest project Women Warriors - a new television series which reveals the ferocious spirit and life-long sacrifice it takes to be a champion. This unique ten part series profiles one remarkable Canadian athlete each week and is scheduled to premier on WTSN, April 28, 2002 at 10pm Eastern Time. The series will also be broadcast in mid-July by the CBC and then in late fall 2002 by CFCF12 Montreal.

Unlike conventional sports profiles, Women Warriors seeks to uncover the woman behind the athletic powerhouse. Through interviews with team-mates, friends, family and in-depth interviews with the athletes, each half hour episode embraces the accomplishments, struggles and choices which make up the world of today's elite Olympian.

"We went out of our way to profile strong, driven women at different stages of their careers," says Producer Ari A. Cohen. "Our Women Warriors and their families and friends were all amazingly candid with us, speaking about everything from their triumphs and fears as athletes to their hopes for the future and decisions about relationships and family."
