Kona Introduces Industry's First Dual-Suspension OB Rig for Juniors

The Fellows of the Kona Design Group have taken out-of-bounds bikes to the new school - actually to Junior High School - with the introduction of the Stinky Jr., a 24"-wheeled, dual suspension Out-of-Bounds rig for groms 8 to 12-years-old.

The Stinky Jr. is a 13" bike with a four-bar linkage suspension design incorporating a Fox Vanilla R shock and Marzocchi EXR coil fork, delivering four inches of front and rear wheel travel.

This is a big-time bike for the small fries. Stinky Jr. features Kona's usual harvest of the choicest, hard-wearing components, including TruVativ ISIS Hussefelt bottom bracket and cranks, Shimano's BR-M475 disc brakes and hubs, Avid disc brake levers, Shimano Deore LX drivetrain, and Kona's Jackshit pedals.

The Stinky Jr.'s 74-degree seat tube keeps the smaller tikes over the front-end controls and the 69-degree front rolls over obstacles easily. "It's a Stinky front married to a Beer rear," says Dr. Dew.

The bike has a suggested retail price of $1,499 (($1,299 in 2003) both prices in US$)) and will have Kona's 'Curious George' color scheme of brown, yellow and blue.

Stinky Jr. will be available at your local Kona dealer in early June.
