Canadian Results in Europe

Thanks to Chris Redden we have an update on the Canadian women‚s national team, who started a 3 day stage race (road) in the Toulouse area of France. Canada actually has two teams in the race - a national squad consisting of mountain bikers Alison Sydor, Lesley Tomlinson and Chrissy Redden, plus a team sponsored by Air Transat with Anne Samplonius, Linda Jackson and Sue Palmer.

Chris reports that today‚s stage was somewhat uneventful, after a breakaway containing members of every team but one got clear of the field. Canadians Samplonius and Jackson were in the break, and finished 5th and 6th respectively for the stage. Behind them, Tomlinson was 11th, Redden 15th, and Palmer and Sydor both finished in the top-25. Chris promises to keep us updated.

Coming This Weekend

Internationally, the last of the spring World Cup races - the Amstel Gold - takes place tomorrow. In Canada, we have a variety of races happening across the country, with probably the most unique taking place in Toronto - the Alley-Cat Scramble courier event. We will be there tomorrow to get all the details for you, but if you are in the area and are interested in attending yourself - click on the banner at the top of the page.

Correction

Peter McCaffrey sent us a note that the results listing for this past week‚s Mid-Week race had the wrong person in 4th place. The fourth person in the break (who finished 4th) should have been Michael Ybanez of the Mississauga Club, NOT Domenic Rigato. He apologizes for the mistake, so call off the hit squads...
