Andrew Pinfold (Neworld) handily beat a class field to win the 3rd. event in the popular Mississauga series.  The race was run as an Australian Pursuit handicap, with the 1/2 group giving the rest of the riders a three minute start.  As happened last week, the handicap bunch tried to catch on to the back of the scratch group who started nearly a lap behind them, but commissaire Peter McCaffery ran interference with his car until the gap was too wide to bridge in the strong wind.

In the early laps, junior phenom., Josh Lajeunesse (Neworld) and Jet Fuel's Doug Pogue broke from the rest of the handicap bunch and Josh maintained his lone effort for the next fifteen laps,  Meanwhile, the scratch group split and a 5 man break made up of Matt Hansen  and Andew Randell (Jet Fuel), Domenic Rigato (Racer Sportif) and wunderkind Peter Mazur (D'Ornellas) steadily pulled away and hauled in the remains of the handicap bunch. With three laps to go everyone was together except for Lajeunesse and with another lap he too was reeled in.  At the line, Pinner took the chequered flag with Lajeunesse just inching out Rigato and the youngest Hansen rounding out the top four.

Next Monday, there will be a criterium, same place, same time, for novices and other categories EXCEPT 1'S AND 2'S. There will also be a short clinic on race tactics, paceline and use of gears.  The 4th. race in the regular series will take place next Wednesday at 7pm.  For further information, tel: (905) 271-8300 (press "1") or email peter.mac@sympatico.ca
