LEZIGNAN, France -- Italian Gabriela Pregnolato (Mista Mimosa Sprint) won the first full stage of the Tour de L‚Aude stage race Saturday and moved into the leader‚s jersey in the process. Pregnolato won solo, topping Svetlana Samokhvalova (Russian National) by 15 seconds. Samokhvalova led a group of 12 behind the Italian.

The top North American on the day was Pam Schuster (U.S. National), Northridge, Calif., who was 20th on the day among the field 22 seconds behind Pregnolato.

Pregnolato now leads Samokhvalova by five seconds in the overall standings. Linda Jackson is 14th overall, tied with Mari Holden (Greenery Hawk), Colorado Springs, Colo., (15th overall), 27 seconds behind.
