Indoor Track Racing at the Burnaby Velodrome

Tired of the cold Canadian winter? Is is so cold outside that rollers and the weight room are your only cycling option until May? WRONG. There is a great indoor track event this weekend at the Burnaby Velodrome. See: www.burnabyvelodrome.ca

There is also an Air Canada seat sale this weekend with cheap fares to Burnaby (Vancouver) from many Canadian and US Cities. See: www.aircanada.ca/websaver

There has also been a surprising run on track equipment at the local bike stores which hints at local cyclists realizing training and racing on the track is fun while making you faster for that summer and fall racing, be it off-road, track, road or cyclo-cross. Contact and registration details are on the Burnaby Velodrome web site.

IMBA Epic Rides

Epic rides are why we love mountain biking. They create classic memories and inspire us to save the trails. To fuel this passion, IMBA has selected four outstanding routes as 2003 IMBA Epic Rides, adding to the 24 great rides we've picked since '99. We'll honor each one with a two-day celebration: you're invited!

Epic celebrations are a weekend-long opportunity to bring mountain bikers together to celebrate our sport and great riding. The first day we focus on trailwork, the second on riding and enjoying the fruits of our labor. Participants camp near the trailhead, share meals, riding stories and ideas. The events are co-hosted by local mountain bike clubs and IMBA.

2003 IMBA Epic Rides selections and celebration dates:

March 15-16, Alafia River Epic, Brandon, Florida
May 3-4, Henry Coe Epic, Morgan Hill, California
June 14 -15, Mansfield Epic, Alliston, Ontario
September 6-7, The Nan Epic, North Conway, New Hampshire

Host clubs are the Southwest Association of Mountain Bike Pedalers (Florida), Responsible Organized Mountain Pedalers (California), Middle Aged Mountain Bikers of Ontario and White Mountains Chapter of the New England Mountain Bicycling Association (New Hampshire).

Epic celebrations are free to IMBA members and are limited to the first 100 pre-registered riders. Get more info and register at http://www.imba.com.
