Saint-Georges, May 27th, 2003

At the 18th edition of the Grand Prix Cycliste de Beauce Postes Canada, June 17th-22nd, 2003, the organizers have devised an extremely selective course. Presented by the Communaute Metropolitaine de Quebec, the GPCB begins with a road circuit starting on the Saint-Laurent River's south shore, and requires the riders to ascend nine times up Cote Gilmour, Quebec.

On June 18th, the 169 km stage will depart from Charles Dionne's home town, Saint-Redempteur. On June 19th, the classic Lac Etchemin stage will be revisited, totaling 150 km. The epic fourth stage, on June 20th, will start in Saint-Georges and end at Mont Megantic after the riders cover 171 km.

Saturday, June 21st, will demand the riders utmost vigilance with a 15.5 km individual time trial in Saint-Jean-de-la-Lande. In the evening, the local population is invited to watch a fantastic twilight criterium in downtown Saint-Georges. The start will be at 6:30 pm for forty 1.5 km laps.

After nearly to 700 km, on June 22nd the peloton will ride the ultimate stage determining the 18th edition's overall winner. A 165 km road circuit in downtown Saint-Georges promises to be spectator friendly with an 11 km circuit to be covered fifteen times.

Quebec viewers can see daily coverages on RDS and a special program on June 29th, 2003.

Ed. Note: Of course, you can also follow the race every day here on Canadian Cyclist, with our exclusive coverage made possible by Oryx.
