Grand Prix Féminin International du Canada

Update

There will be 13 teams (not 14 as previously posted). The 2nd team from Lithuania was composed of riders that were underage.

The Hamilton 2003 team was somewhat doubtful too at last night's sign in as only 3 riders showed up for sign in. Magalie Boulay arrived very late. Seems she was writing an exam and could not get away. The staff member who is looking after the team could not be contacted and there were some nervous phone calls made. But all was back on track this morning.

The women's Team Saturn is basically finished for international competition. This would have been the final race for the year, but their budget is used up and with the team not continuing after this year, the organizers were told that the team would not be participating. Plus, three of their riders - Lyne Bessette, Amy Moore and Manon Jutras - are already racing for the National team.

According to Race Coordinator Pascal Tremblay, Team RONA was invited to participate, but manager Andre Aubet said" the race did not fit the training program for the Worlds."

It has been raining all week, but today the rain has stopped, but has been replaced by high winds. Tonight the 1.1 km ITT prologue has the first rider off at 5:30pm. The course while short, could be greatly affected by the wind.

Canadian Cyclist editor/photographer Rob Jones is onsite and will be providing full coverage.
