Dave Watson Wins the Guardian's Alternative Sports Personality Award!

Kona Clump rider, Dave Watson's gap jump over the Tour de France earned him the Guardian Unlimited's Alternative Sports Personality of the year award, beating Queens Park Ranger's (soccer, or football . . . ) Manager
Ian Holloway and American Tour De France rider Tyler Hamilton.

USA Cycling Announces 'Cross Worlds Team

(COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.) January 6, 2004 - USA Cycling announced today the full squad for the 2004 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships in Pont-Château, France from Jan 31-Feb 1, 2004. Joining the six previously announced automatic qualifiers will be twelve additional riders.

Elite men's USCF National Cyclo-cross Champion, Jonathan Page (Northfield, N.H.), who received an automatic nomination as a result of defending his national title, will be joined by Jackson Stewart (Los Gatos, Calif.) and Andy Jacques-Maynes (Berkeley, Calif.) in the elite men's category.

Alison Dunlap (Colorado Springs, Colo.) will be joined by an all-star cast in the elite women's field. Joining the 2003 U.S. National Champion will be runner-up, Rachel Lloyd (Larkspur, Calif.), 2002 U.S. National Champion, Ann Knapp (Des Moines, Wash.) Carmen D'Alusio (Watsonville, Calif.) and Gina Hall (Richmond, Va.). Together, these women claimed the top five placings in the 2004 U.S. National Championships.

Trek/ VW/ Broadway Station Dental Announces Team Roster for 2004

Vancouver, B.C. - Trek/ VW/ Broadway Station Dental Center today announced its list of riders and sponsors for the upcoming 2004 season.

This year's team will be made up of mostly returning riders highlighted by strong man Sean Dawson, former Symmetrics standout Rick Minichiello, and new addition Leah Goldstein. Sean was 5th and best amateur finisher at last year's Tour De Delta, among top ranked US pros such as Danny Pate and Gord Fraser. On the women's side, National silver medallist Leah Goldstein will team up with veteran multiple National Champion and former Olympian (and now coach/ athlete) Sara Neil. Leah will be representing Israel at the World Championships and Athens.

The team will continue to support and develop young talented riders and this year's squad features Provincial team member, Shaun Crump and his brother and Junior National track champion, Scott along, with upstart Josh James.

The team will once again be hosting the 2nd annual BC Cup Harris Roubaix race to be held on April 11/ 04; modeled after and coinciding with the famous Spring classic Paris Roubaix race in Europe.
