PUSHBIKES.CA Launches First Issue!

Ex-National Team cyclist, Pedal Magazine columnist and freelance writer, Leigh Hargrove, has launched a unique site that will cater to bike lovers everywhere...

Leigh's dream has always been to give back to the sport that has given her a lifetime of memorable experiences, life lessons and joy.

With that in mind, this eager gal has created a website that captures the lifestyle and imagery of the cycling community, culture and industry. Instead of just simple text (which there is plenty of anyhow) the site combines the use of multimedia formats including photography, audio interviews and mini-websites within each weekly issue.

The first issue was launched on, of all days, Super Bowl Sunday! Within it you can read about some of Canada's current 2003 National Champions in road, track and mountain biking. Also featured is a special multi-part series on Tandem Racing and two pairs of Canada's Paraylmpic Team hopefuls.

Some of the many columnists that will be gracing the site with their presence this year include Trials guru and all-round bike-lover, Rich Belson, National Team Cross-Country racer, Sandra Walter, Adventure Racer Dave Norona, National Downhill Champion Mike Jones, National Track members Erin Carter and Glen Rendall, Chico Racing's President, Adam Ruppel, roadie rookie Jonquil Bathhurst, Dirt Jumpin' Jay Hoots, and photographer, Andrea Brewer.

Each weekly issue will feature different sides of the cycling life. Be it BMX, track, road, mountain bike (downhill, cross-country, freeride) trials, dirt jumping, triathlon, commuting, adventure racing, courier culture, touring, beach cruising, whether its competitive or recreational, we'll cover it. You'll also hear from industry reps, family members of pro riders, volunteers, coaches, organizers, trades people, promoters, weekend warriors, and more...
