Velodrome Work Day - Michigan
Courtesy Leonardo Gianola

This Saturday, April 3, will be a work day out at the velodrome from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

There is some work that is needed to be done on the guardrail which will require a little sanding and touchup.

Also, it is important to make sure that there are no drainage issues.

If the weather is nice, which it is supposed to be, then the track will be open for volunteers to ride.

Ride for the Rouge

Please accept this invitation to join the 11th annual Ride for the Rouge Bicycle Challenge.

This is an event the whole family can participate in and enjoy. And it's a great way to stretch your legs in preparation for a busy season of biking, hiking, paddling or whatever interests keep you busy. Plus, you'll be supporting a valuable cause.

Starting at the Rouge Valley Conservation Centre overlooking the valley, you can choose either our 25 km or 50 km route. From the historic Pearse House, the route meanders through quiet streets on its way to Rouge Beach on Lake Ontario. From there, the route takes you up the opposite side of the valley and through some of the last remaining farmland in Toronto. It concludes back at Pearse House, across from the world famous Toronto Zoo.

After the ride, stay and enjoy a complimentary barbecue lunch and entertainment while you meet and greet fellow cyclists and nature lovers. You're also invited to take a guided hike in the park. And there's lots of prizes to be won for pledges and participation including a VIA Rail pass for two, bicycle accessories and much more.

All proceeds from the Ride for the Rouge go to the Rouge Valley Foundation for education and rehabilitation projects. For more information about the Rouge Valley Foundation visit www.rivernen.ca/found.htm.

We hope you can help us spread the word about this exciting event and join us on Saturday, May 8, 2004 for the 11th annual Ride for the Rouge Bicycle Challenge. Registration starts at 9:30 am at the Rouge Valley Conservation Centre, 1749 Meadowvale Road in Scarborough, across the street from the Toronto Zoo. Please remember, helmets are mandatory. Come on out, it's going to be a great day!

Thanks and we look forward to seeing you,
Ride for the Rouge Committee
