The return of the High Park Classic saw some great racing on its new course design. The City of Toronto, McBrides Cycles, Jet Fuel Coffee and the folks at Grenadier Restaurant worked together to bring together this great day of racing.

The riders found the new course design to be challenging with its European style single lane. The climb up Colborne Lodge Rd proved to be testing.

The women's race saw an exciting sprint finish with Maogosha Pyjor (Animus Cycling) beating Lesley Honsberger (St. Catharines) in a two sprint.

The open race started off fast with field cut down to 30 riders by the third lap. Brent Aquino (Pavan Cycling) broke away solo for several laps with the Sport Swap and KHS teams leading the chase to bring him back. The last few laps saw Tony Liokossis (Coachchris.ca) and Hamish Gordon (Midweek Bicycle Club) make some dashes for cash as they won $50 and $100 primes.

The open race field saw some team work come into play on the last lap. Crafty veteran Tim Hadfield helped lead his Peterborough Cycling Club teammate Doug Hinan to an impressive win.

The Senior I/II race saw an early break of Paul Rego (Coachchris.ca), Mark Pozniak (Gears Racing) and Jeff Hansen (Jet Fuel Coffee) escape for several laps. Pozniak put on a further display of power by going solo right before his group was caught.

Various riders made some breakaway attempts throughout the event but the last lap saw the field together. Robb Mann (KHS Bicycles) won the gamblers prime of $100 on the second last lap.

Darko Ficko (La Bicicletta - J. Lindeberg) powered his way to a great win. The Niagara region cycling mafia swept the next three spots showing that all those trips up Effingham Hill actually help out on race day.

Thanks to all the riders for making this event a great success.
