From the 13th to 17th of September 2004 (not far from and just after the UCI Mountain Bike /Trials World Championships at Les Gets), the UCI is organising its first international International Cyclo-cross Training Camp at the WCC. The objective is to give riders who are not yet confirmed specialists in the discipline but dream of being among the best, the necessary knowledge to join the elite.

Priority will be given to young riders specialising in mountain bike, BMX or trials, and the event will be run by Adrie Van der Poel, 1996 Cyclo-cross World Champion. For more information, please contact the Sports
Coordination Department - Cyclo-cross (cyclo-cross@uci.ch).

Olympic athletes representing six different countries (Canada, United States, Denmark, Germany, Norway and Luxembourg) will be going for the gold in Athens, atop Canadian-designed Cervélo bikes.

The athletes include: Lyne Bessette (Canada), Eric Wohlberg (Canada), Erin Mirabella (USA), Bobby Julich (USA), Nicki Sorensen (Denmark), Jens Voigt, (Germany), Frank Hoj (Denmark), Lars Michaelsen (Denmark), Kurt Asle Arvesen (Norway) and Frank Schleck (Luxembourg). With the exception of Bessette, Wohlberg and Mirabella all the riders are members of Team CSC, one of the world's top-3 cycling teams and major animator of this year's Tour de France aboard their Cervélo's.

The 2004 Olympic Games includes three cycling categories: Road cycling, track cycling, and mountain bike. Cervélos will be ridden only in the road and track events. Road cycling includes two events: the road race (a mass start endurance event) and the individual time trial (a race against the clock). The Road race will be held in the historical centre of Athens on August 14, and the individual time trials at the Vouliagmeni Olympic Centre on August 18. Track cycling will take place from August 20 to 25 in the Olympic Velodrome at the Athens Olympic Sports Complex (OAKA).

The Team CSC riders will use the brand-new Cervélo R2.5 Team for the road race, while Bessette and Mirabella will unveil the new Cervélo P3 SL in respectively the time trial and the individual pursuit on the track.
