Preview for tomorrow's relay from European point of view.
There are 2 strong teams in tomorrow's relay. Switzerland and Germany. The way the athletes will be put together will give us information about the program for 2008. Here a guess how the teams will look like.
Switzerland: Junior Schurter, Espoir Vogel, Pro Men Naef and women either Blatter or Leumann. I would not be surprised if Katrin Leumann will get the spot and we have a really strong young team pushing the pace.
For Germany we have a question of the junior men ( 3 - 4 choices ), Espoir Manual Fumic and Pro man His brother Lado Fumic. For women - Nina Goehl may get the spot instead of Spitz as a way of keeping her on track after not getting the nomination for Athens.
A big question is the Spanish team, which in the past always was good for a medal. Junior with Villa Jordi, Espoir Lejarretta and Hermidas as the Pro men will be strong, but the weak spot is the Pro women. With Fullana finishing her season early ( no show in Les Gets) Rovira still injured from a big accident in the spring and Puiggros out because of a positiove drug test, the pressure is on Santanjas or Mascareras. I assume based on the way they ride Santanjas will be the choice for the relay.
Now comes the question where do the Canadians fit in and who is on the relay. Let's guess: Junior men is clear with Gagne, Espoir is Plaxton, pro men ? Kabush ? and pro women Premont, or Sydor. How would you put the team together ? Have a fun worlds and good luck to all canadian athletes.
