IMPORTANT Rule Change for Cyclo-Cross Nationals

The Canadian Cycling Association (CCA) wants to clarify the rule 5.1.001 regarding the participation to UCI cyclo-cross events.

“The category to which the license-holder belongs on 1 January of the civil year following will be used for his participation in events for the whole season”.

We need to understand by this rule that a person who wants to participate in the 2004 National Championship will have to register in the category that he/she will compete in the 2005 season.

Ex; A person who is 18 years of age in 2004, will be a U23 in 2005 since he/she will have 19 years old. So, for the 2004 cyclo-cross National Championship, that person will need to register as an U23.


L’Association Cycliste Canadienne (ACC) désire clarifier le règlement 5.1.001 relié à la participation aux épreuves UCI de cyclo-cross.

« C’est la catégorie à laquelle le licencié appartiendra réglementairement au 1er janvier de l’année suivante qui sera prise en considération pour sa participation aux épreuves de toute la saison. »

Il faut comprendre par ce règlement qu’une personne voulant participer au Championnat canadien 2004, doit s’inscrire dans la catégorie où il/elle sera éligible en 2005.

ex; Une personne qui a 18 ans en 2004, sera un U23 en 2005 car il/elle aura 19ans. Pour le championnat canadien de cyclo-cross 2004, il/elle devra donc s’inscrire comme U23.
