Muenzer Wins Bobbie Rosenfeld Award

Lori-Ann Muenzer has been voted the Canadian Press Female Athlete of the Year, winning the Bobbie Rosenfeld Award after voting by sports editors and broadcasters across Canada. Muenzer, who won Canada's first ever Olympic cycling gold medal, received 185 points, with 42 first place ballots (3 points for first, 2 for second and 1 for third). Paralympian Chantal Petitclerc was second with 172 points (36 first place ballots), Track and field athlete Felicien Perdita was third with 161 points (27 first places), and former cyclist turned speedskater Clara Hughes 4th with 48 points. Muenzer is the second athlete to win this award, joining mountain biker Alison Sydor.

Lance Armstrong was selected as the Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year for the third straight year, with 312 points to second place football player Peyton Manning's 156.
