The gap between the front three riders - Servais Knaven (TVM), Arturas Kasputis (Casino), and Luca Colombo (Batik-Del Monte) - has been dropping constantly, and is down to 30 seconds with 12 kilometres left. Saeco, Roslotto and Mapei have been doing much of the work at the front.
