Spectators were treated to an exciting and close short track race for the Elite Men. A pack of 10 racers stayed together for the first 1/2, before being split in two by pressure of the two 2004 National Champions Martin Lazarski and Ricky Federeau.

The final group of five then left the decision to a sprint to the line. Derek Zandstyra executed a perfectly strategic race, always in the top three, but really showed his strength on the last lap to take the win! Ricky Federeau just came around to nip Andreas Hestler at the line for second, leaving Martin Lazarski just a 1/2 bike length back for fourth.

Melanie McQuaid left no doubt, attacking right off the gun and opening a 10 second gap in the first lap. By lap three she had a comfortable 20 sec. lead which she kept to the end. This left the real race between Danelle Kabush and Amanda Sin. Danelle led for most of the race, and even tried an attack up the last climb. Amanda Sin was able to get around Danelle before the finishing straight and powered to the win.

Cross Country races run all day Sunday, with the Elite Men and Women racing at 1:45 pm. It promises to be a very exciting race with a real all-star line up of the top Canadians. Entries in the Elite Men include:
Roland Green - two time World Champion
Kris Sneddon - Canada Cup Leader
Peter Wedge - top Cdn on UCI ranking
Ricky Federeau - 2004 Ntl Champion
Martin Lazarski - 2004 Espoir Ntl Champion

Be sure to come and cheer on your favorite Cdn stars, enjoy the festival atmosphere and even visit the Beer
Garden!
