Multi-Laser Inc. announces today the postponement of the annual Multi-Laser Cycling Grand Prix held in September. The 4 stage event that took place in Gananoque for the past 5 years has attracted elite athletes to compete for a $10,000.00 prize purse. Multi-Laser Inc. has been the founding sponsor and key organizer since the event's conception.

Multi-Laser Inc. is pleased to announce that the race will return in 2006 and we would like to thank all everyone who has contributed to the race's success over the past years. We will continue to support the Multi-Laser Cycling Team and the company will always be happy to help promote cycling in the 1000 Islands.

"We would like to extend our appreciation to the many persons that helped make this event such a success" says Brian Cosgrove, President of Multi-Laser Inc. " I am looking forward to seeing the crowds back next year!"

UCI News

The UCI Management Committee recently met, and has decided the following :

- award the 2009 Road World Championships to Mendrisio (Switzerland)

- take off the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games Program the medals of Track Men Kilometer Time Trial and Women 500m Time Trial

The IOC had imposed this measure (dropping of two events) following the integration of BMX amongst the Olympic disciplines (as of 2008). The choice of the Management Committee results from an in-depth evaluation done in concert with its National Federations. The kilometer event and the 500m events will however continue to appear on the UCI Track World Championships program.

The UCI Management Committee also decided that repechages will be disputed after the 1/8th finals as from 2006 (there were a number of complaints about top riders being out of the sprint after one ride only at the 2005 Worlds).
