The Vaughan Cycling Club announced today that the Vaughan Gran Prix originally scheduled for July 31, 2005 has been re-scheduled. The race will now take place in September. An exact date is still being confirmed with the OCA.

Road construction on parts of the course have taken longer than originally planned by the Region of York, and thus parts of the course are not safe for the athletes.

All the sponsors of the race are committed to bringing world class cycling back to the Toronto area and more specifically to Vaughan, Ontario. The race program has changed to reflect the new date, originally scheduled as a Pro race; the Vaughan Gran Prix will now host all age groups.

To show its commitment to cycling in the GTA area, the race organizers along with their sponsors will not be charging any fee to the cyclists. Registration will be available on-line. The organizers asked that the participants bring a non perishable food item that will be donated to the Vaughan Food bank.

More information about the race can be found at www.vaughancyclingclub.com. The race bible will be posted before the end of July.
