The Bayside Cycling Club is proud to present, for the third year, cyclocross racing in Crescent Park. The dates for this year's races are: Sunday, October 2nd and Sunday, October 16th.

We are proud to be part of the inaugural BC Cup `Cross Series. Generous support from all our sponsors will help to ensure that the races are a success. New this year will be separate Women A & B races, provided that there are enough entrants as well as two new courses for each race day.

Mike Heintzman was the winner of the third edition of the ‘Falling Leaves Road race', Sunday. He edged out Pat Ferris by a couple of bike lengths in an exciting sprint finish after 60 km's of racing on the hilly Montney circuit. Their time was 2:00:00 hours. Terry Stone was third at 2:03:40, David Ferris 4th at 2:04:00 and Richard Wood 5th at 2:05:00.

Ten riders were on the start line under very warm but windy fall conditions. The pack was together until the 30 km turn. The pace speeded up with the pack eventually falling apart at about the 50 km mark. Pat Ferris and Mike Heintzman pulled away and headed to the finish line. Mike won the tough uphill finish to take the final ‘road' event and the trophy, of the club season.

Other finishers of the 60 km race were Wim Kok in 6th at 2:06:56 and Sam Keats at 2:14:00. Roger St. Jean and Sam Keats fell victim to lumpy railroad tracks and suffered flat tires.

Darren Guliov won the 42 km event by outsprinting Gord Harris for a time of 1:38:43.

Coming up:
-Thursday - cyclo-cross at North Peace School at 6:30 pm.
-Sunday - First cyclo-cross race at Beatton River Park at 2 pm. Cyclo cross is a cycling event that combines off-road cycling and running.
