Fort Langley Cyclocross: BC Cup #2 September 25th, Langley, BC

Over 70 enthusiastic riders took part in the second round of the BC Cross Cup at Aldor Acres in Langley, BC. Weather conditions were dry and sunny for all four categories of the Seven Marine Fort Langley Cyclocross Classic. The action got underway early with the beginner's race rolling out at 9:00am. Ryan Cousineau laid the smack down from lap one and never looked back to take the win in his first cyclocross race. Dwayne Sales and Graham Versailles rounded out the top three both with strong finishes.
A large 33 rider field for the Men's B race took off at 10:00 with the womens group following shortly behind. The men's field quickly strung out with the crossing of West Creek and the massive run up taking their toll. Aart Van Kooy quickly distanced himself from the lead group of men and held on for a convincing win. The battle for second place came down to a three man sprint with Nels Guloien taking second and Kim Steed taking third. In the women's race, Kelly Jones tore away from the other women and held on for her second victory in a row in the BC Cross Cup series.
A field of 25 riders lined up for the start of the Men's A race at 11:00. The pace was furious from the get go as riders battled for the lead. Andrew Pinfold of Symmetrics Cycling took charge early on and held on for the win. Ricky Federau and Carter Hovey rounded out the top three of the second round of the BC Cross Cup series.
Round three of the BC Cross Cup series takes place this Sunday at Crescent Park with the Bayside Cyclocross race.
