Response from Micayla Gatto

Micayla Gatto was awarded the Canadian Cyclist of the Year Roger Sumner Award (Best Newcomer) for 2005, and sent in the following comments:

I have just returned from winter break to find out that I am the recipient of the Canadian Cyclist Roger Sumner Award, and the first downhill racer to win a Canadian Cyclist of the Year Award.

I am honoured to have been chosen for this award and would like to thank all the people who support me in my biking career, especially my sponsor: Rocky Mountain Business Objects, and my coach, Lesley Tomlinson.

I was thrilled with my accomplishments this year, and look forward to my 2006 race season. Thank you all again for this award, it truly is an honour.
