The French continue to dominate this World Championships, taking first and second in the Junior Mens Downhill event. Fabien Barel was the highest seeded rider coming into the race, and he lived up to his seeding by finishing over 12 seconds in front of second place Franck Parolin of France. Australian Nathan Rennie took the bronze medal. Top Canadian was Vincent Roy, in 25th place. Other Canadians did not fare so well - Dustin Adams 30th and Tony Perjil 40th (Perjil crashed yesterday and was favouring his shoulder).

Barel revealed that he had decided after his earlier practice runs to take the longer lines: I decided this morning to take the lines that were smoother. Although it was longer, I was able to keep pedalling and not lose my speed so much. Barel also said: my team changed the setup on my bike at the last minute, and it was perfect. Barel finished 4th last year at the World Championships, and just won the French National Championship.
