Shimano Canada Supports Commonwealth Games Athletes
As one group of elite athletes arrive home from the Winter Olympics, another group is counting down to the thrill of competition at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia, March 15th to 26th.
Shimano Canada Limited, Canadian sales office for world leading manufacturer of bicycle components Shimano Inc., is proud to sponsor an impressive line up of athletes who are part of the 19 member Canadian team competing at the Melbourne Games.
"We are extremely proud of all of our sponsored athletes as they make final preparations for the Commonwealth Games," said Bill Scullion, Shimano's National Sales Manager. "Canada's strong medal results at the recent Torino Winter Olympics reinforces our commitment to support our elite Canadian cyclists so that they may represent our country proudly and compete successfully in any of the world's great 'athletic stages.'"
Shimano's 2006 cycling competitors and their sponsored product category are:
Mandy Poitras - Symmetrics - Road and Track, representing Dura Ace
Svein Tuft - Symmetrics - Road, representing Dura Ace
Eric Wohlberg - Symmetrics - Alternate Road, representing Dura Ace
Marie-Hélène Prémont- Rocky Mountain - X-country, representing XTR

Bisaro, of Courtenay, BC, who is now in New Zealand preparing for the Games, recently remarked: "I am very proud to be representing Canada at the Commonwealth Games in Australia. Even though it is very early in the racing season, I have strong motivation and lots of enthusiasm. After seeing the success of our winter Olympians I am very inspired to medal at the Games. I have a great support network, including Shimano and that support makes me all the more confident. The Commonwealth Games will be a great experience!"
