The birds are chirping and will be welcoming the start of March, as this means winter is on the way out and road racing is front and centre again in BC. The Escape Velocity/dEVo Spring Series is all set to go with two new courses and a new category added.

The series will start off with the traditional River Rd course and all of your favourites are back such as Armstrong and Bradner, but we have also added a new 16 km loop in central Langley to replace the second running of River Rd, and a new criterium in the heart or Murrayville.

We have also endeavoured to make racing as accessible to as many groups as possible and have added a Novice category for three races on March 10, 24, and 25. Please see the category suggestions on the Spring Series page to help advise you on which category to race.

Don't forget about the Learn to Race Clinic on March 3rd (see below). The perfect way for any new or nervous rider to ease into racing.

So check out all the details now that we have updated the site. Get your license, take off your fenders, download the waiver, and be there!

Changes for 2007
The series will start off with the traditional River Rd course and all of your favourites are back such as Armstrong and Bradner but we have also added a new 16 km loop in central Langley to replace the second running of River Rd and a new criterium in the heart of Murrayville so look for these exciting new additions.

We have also endeavoured to make racing as accessible to as many groups as possible and have added a Novice category for three races on March 4, 10, and 25. Please see the category suggestions below to help advise you on which category to race.

A Group - This is generally comprised of category Pro, 1 and 2's as well as some very fit 3's.

B Group - This is composed on the top Category 3's and 4's as well as most top Women and top Jr racers

C Group - This is the place for most Category 4's and 5's as well as Novice racers that have some but limited race experience. In the spirit of the Spring Series if you are new to racing but have been riding consistently over the winter and are keeping up with cat 3's in your club then B's are more than likely where you belong.

Novice - This group is for the complete novice to racing with limited fitness.

Please try to limit changing from one group to the next. If a rider is dominating a group he/she may be asked to move up, similarly a rider getting dropped all the time can downgrade. We do not condone or allow cherry picking between different categories based on the difficulty of the course.

Learn To race - March 3rd, 2007!
If you're nervous about your first race or just riding in a big group, then this year we have something just for you. Learn to Race Road is aimed at novice and first-time racers - for men, women, and kids. Get familiar with the Escape Velocity Spring Series race course #1 (River Road) and the people that you will be racing with while you learn to race safely and effectively. It's quite a deal for only $20.
